Australia’s COVID-19 response becoming a ‘focal point’ in the US
Published at : October 08, 2021
Sky News Washington Correspondent Annelise Nielsen says Australia’s hard-line COVID-19 response has become a “focal point” in the US.
A protest against the vaccination mandate for US teachers ended up outside the Consulate General of Australia in New York, with many protesters chanting “save Australia”.
Ms Nielsen said a lot of the anti-mandatory vaccination movement in the United States are turning their focus to Australia, noting the recent protest shows the country has become “a real talking point in the US”.
“People have started bringing up the lockdowns in Australia, the extended lockdowns in Australia, and the fact that the actual vaccine numbers don’t seem to be moving that.
“It’s something Americans are finding really hard to wrap their head around.”
